07:06 AM EST, 02/01/2022 (MT Newswires) -- ANZ Bank said it expected the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) to start lifting the cash rate this September.
In its first policy statement for 2022, the RBA Board overnight Monday said it remained "patient." The RBA didn't specify a specific date for the first rate hike in its statement, but ANZ noted it also dropped any calendar reference in December so this wasn't a new development.
RBA's cash rate was predicted to lift to 0.75% by November 2022 and then reach 2% by the end of 2023, wrote the bank in a note to clients.
ANZ estimated for the cash rate to continue rising in 2024, but at a "slower" pace.
