The Eden Prairie, Minnesota-based company said it had profit of $1.07 per share.

The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.16 per share.

The trucking company posted revenue of $3.86 billion in the period, also missing Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $3.93 billion.

C.H. Robinson shares have risen almost 8% since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has increased 21%. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $90.52, a climb of 4% in the last 12 months.
