Fisker (OTC:FSRNQ) has launched a voluntary safety recall to address a potential safety concern affecting all 2023-2024 Ocean vehicles.
The bankrupt EV startup is recalling 7,545 Ocean electric SUVs due to a water pump issue that could cause a loss of driver power, increasing the risk of a crash, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.
"A communication failure with the cabin electric water pump can cause the high voltage battery management system to enter limp mode, causing a loss of drive power," the recall report read.
Fisker (OTC:FSRNQ) will replace the pumps free of charge to fix the issue. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 23, 2024.
The company, and its U.S. units, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last month, listing assets of around $500M-$1B and liabilities of $100M-$500M.
In February, Fisker (OTC:FSRNQ) had raised doubts about its ability to remain in business, after which its attempt to secure an investment from a big automaker failed. The New York Stock Exchange in March began steps to delist shares of Fisker’s common stock due to its "abnormally low" price.
