MarketAxess's (NASDAQ:MKTX) total average daily volume in August jumped 18% to $41.6B from July, driven by a 3.6% increase in total credit ADV and a 27% rise in total rates ADV, the company said on Thursday.
On a Y/Y basis, total ADV surged almost 40%, with credit ADV climbing 27% and total rates ADV jumping 46%.
In U.S. credit, U.S. high-grade ADV of $6.7B grew 10% M/M and 34% Y/Y. Estimated market share slipped to 19.9% from 20.6% in the prior year, but up from 18.6% in July 2024. Including the impact of single-dealer portfolio trades, estimated market share was 20.9% in August 2024, up from 20.7% in the prior year and 18.7% in July 2024.
U.S. high-yield ADV of $1.3B rose 14% M/M and 7.2% Y/Y, with estimated market share of 14.4% vs. 12.5% in July and 15.9% in August 2023.
Preliminary fees per million for total credit in August was ~$154, in line with $154 in August 2023 and up from $143 in July 2024. The preliminary FPM for total rates was ~$4.00 vs. $4.35 a year ago.
