- Flutter Entertainment (NYSE:FLUT) is set to acquire Italian gambling company Snaitech S.p.A. for €2.3 billion from UK gambling technology firm Playtech.
- Snaitech, the number three online operator in Italy with a 9.9% market share, generated €947 million in regulated revenue and €256 million in adjusted EBITDA in 2023.
- The acquisition will give Flutter a ~30% online share in Italy when combined with its existing business and access to Snaitech's strong retail presence with over 2,000 sites.
- Snaitech's diversified retail footprint will give Flutter access to increased omni-channel customer acquisition opportunities to capitalize on online growth.
- The transaction is expected to deliver operating cost synergies of at least €70 million, and additional revenue synergies and capital expenditure synergies are expected to be €10 million.
- The deal is expected to close by the second quarter of 2025 and will add to its earnings per share immediately.
- The two parties have been in talks regarding Snaitech since August.
